UNTOUCHED | Piet Hein Eek Store

Some of the pictures I shot at the amazing new concept store of the dutch designer Piet Hein Eek. I wandered around in the store -which was like an old industrial factory- together with my camera for more than an hour and forgot all about time and space. I was totally taken by everything beautiful I saw, which was exactly what I refer to pure beauty. Rough, untouched and imperfect. Things picked up along the way by the designer, transformed into something amazing. Piet Hein Eek got famous for his interior of scrap wood. In this concept store the reliable, honest and retro style of that same wood and way of design was taken to the next level with all kind of new products.

PRESS DAY | Favourites

Yesterday I visited the press day of So PR to take a look at the new collections. It was also their 5 year anniversary so a little party was appropriate. There was a delicious homemade cake, hosts in an aircraft theme and you could get your nails done. I was literally in love with the leather and suede jackets from Goosecraft. With their perfect fall colors and soft feel I had to add them to my wish list. Here are some snapshots of the day and some of my personal favorites for upcoming season.

1. Goosecraft jackets
2. Picard leather bags
3. JMG Paris chunky ring
4. Marcha Huskes

Back in the days

Where better to find inspiration than in our former times where everything was so serene and above all perfect in black and white and sepia colors.

Portfolio Piece: 'Jeans Book'

The project I have been working on the last three weeks with passion and love, but also some sweat and struggle. A jeans brand book which we made together with 14 people. The road was sometimes bumpy but the final product was totally worth it.

'The truth is in the details'

This week I was lucky to pay a special visit to the design studio of the true jeans brand
Denham. I must say, I'm exactly not a true jeans fan. But after the stories I heard there, and the jeans project I have been working on for school, I kind of went overboard.
Denham puts a lot of effort in the design and goes back to the core craftsmanship of the jean. This combined with progressive techniques to the perfect balance. The stories that true this way appear behind a pair of jeans simply took me. For example there was a jeans made of 50% paper, packed in an authentic laundry bag that came with a special piece of soap to wash your jeans. All engraved with 'The Jeanmaker' scissors.

'The details are not the details, they are the design.'
